Haggerty, Dainja Power No. 17 Memphis Past Temple in 90-82 Victory

PJ Haggerty delivered 20 points and seven assists, while Dain Dainja contributed 18 points and eight rebounds as No. 17 Memphis rallied in the second half to secure a 90-82 win over Temple on Sunday.

Dainja shot an efficient 5-for-7 from the field, helping Memphis (20-4, 10-1 AAC) extend its winning streak to seven games. The Tigers’ only conference loss this season came against Temple on Jan. 16, but they ensured there would be no repeat outcome.

Temple (14-10, 6-5), playing without leading scorer Jamal Mashburn Jr. for the second consecutive game due to a lower-body injury, relied on Aiden Tobiason’s 18 points to keep pace. Steve Settle added 17, while Quante Berry finished with 16.

At halftime, the teams were locked at 35-35, with both struggling to take care of the ball—Temple committed 10 turnovers, while Memphis had 11. The Owls stayed competitive by hitting 5-of-10 from three-point range in the first half.

Turning Point

After Settle’s three-pointer gave Temple a 42-40 lead with 16:32 remaining, Memphis responded with a 7-0 surge, sparking a 14-4 run that shifted momentum firmly in the Tigers’ favor.
