Dayne Brown Named Head Coach of Faulkner University Football
Faulkner University announced Thursday that Dayne Brown will take over as head coach of its football program, marking a new chapter for the Eagles. The announcement was made following the university’s daily chapel assembly, where Brown shared his excitement and vision for the team.
“This opportunity means the world to my family and me,” Brown said. “Faith, family, and football have always been our priorities, and being at an institution that not only supports but promotes Godly values is so important to us. We’re excited to openly share our beliefs and have a positive impact on the lives of everyone at Faulkner University.”
Brown, who becomes the program’s eighth head coach, steps into the role with a wealth of experience and a passion for mentorship. Throughout his career, he has been dedicated to helping young athletes succeed both on and off the field.
A Veteran Leader with a Vision
Brown’s extensive resume includes a successful track record as an assistant coach and recruiter at various levels of college football. His collegiate coaching journey began in 2007 as recruiting coordinator and director of football operations at Northwestern University. Over the years, he held roles at Morehead State, Southern Miss, Kent State, Kansas, and Troy University, where he served as special teams coordinator and tight ends coach. Most recently, Brown served as defensive coordinator at Enterprise High School in Alabama.
“Dayne’s extensive collegiate experience in recruiting and developing top student-athletes positions him for great success at Faulkner,” said Faulkner University President Mitch Henry. “His player-focused philosophy and spiritual commitment will create an atmosphere where our student-athletes can thrive academically, athletically, emotionally, and spiritually.”
Vice President of Athletics Hal Wynn echoed the sentiment, noting Brown’s standout qualities during the hiring process. “We had a number of quality applicants, but Dayne stood out. We’re excited to see him strengthen the program in alignment with Faulkner’s vision.”
Building a Foundation for Success
As he steps into his first collegiate head coaching role, Brown is focused on fostering a culture of hard work, teamwork, and personal growth.
“Our program will emphasize helping young men become the best versions of themselves on and off the field,” Brown explained. “We’ll focus on daily hard work, attention to detail, and preparation. Our football will be smart, fast, and physical, with a team-first approach. The process of consistent preparation will drive the results.”
Brown also emphasized his desire to bring an exciting style of football to the program. “We will play an energetic and disciplined brand of football on all sides of the ball. This will be a team effort, not a collection of individuals.”
A New Era for Faulkner Football
Brown takes over from Rob Gray, who departed the program in December. With his vast experience and commitment to developing well-rounded student-athletes, Brown aims to lead the Eagles to success both on the field and within the larger Faulkner community.
“This is more than football; it’s about making a difference,” Brown said. “We’re excited to get to work and build something special here at Faulkner.”
